If you follow this blog at all, you know I am fascinated with the Google Logo. Well today there is another original logo by Google to honor the 70th birthday of a true original; John Lennon.
John Lennon would have celebrated his 70th birthday on the 9th of October had he not been shot down on December 8th, 1980 (one of those where were you moments for my generation – btw I was a freshman in college sitting in the cafeteria of Assumption College listening to an acoustic guitarist, when someone came running in yelling that John Lennon had been shot in NYC, I digress again, sorry).
What is so special about the logo outside of it being for John Lennon? This is the first time Google has combined a YouTube video with a Doodle logo. When you click on the logo, you view a YouTube video presenting one of John Lennon’s most endearing songs, “Imagine” while watching Google cleverly doodle flowers, pinwheels, butterflies, and conclude by doodling the word Google with John Lennon’s smiling face as the “O’s” in Google. And Google, being Google, culminates the experience with what it does best, Search, by returning a Search Results for John Lennon.
Good Work Google.
Imagine what John would have thought of this creation, hmmm come to think of it, what he would have thought of Google, he had died two years before Google’ even started.
